Nordstjerne - Handcrafted Paper Ornaments from Denmark

Founded by Danish designer Henriette Bach, Nordstjerne creates simple, sculptural ornaments with a strong focus on natural materials, thoughtful making and longevity.

The folded paper ornaments are made from Katran, a handmade paper created from discarded cotton fabric from the textile industry, and finished with Musa, a bio-based material made from banana fibre and wool. The result is light, tactile and quietly beautiful — with subtle variations that reflect the handmade process.

I am drawn to the restraint in Nordstjerne’s work. The ornaments feel decorative without being overly festive, making them easy to use on a branch, in a window or as part of a simple seasonal display.

They bring together many of the qualities I look for in Scandinavian design: simplicity, natural materials and objects made with care and purpose.
