Nordstjerne

Founded by Danish designer Henriette Bach, Nordstjerne creates sculptural ornaments defined by simple forms, tactile materials, and a thoughtful approach to making.

The folded ornaments are made from Katran, a handmade paper created from discarded cotton fabric from the textile industry. They are finished with a hanging string made from Musa, a bio based material produced from banana fibre and wool. The Katran gives the ornaments their distinctive texture and subtle variations, while the folded construction allows them to be opened for display and carefully packed away again after the season.

Across the collection, simple folded forms bring colour and dimension to a Christmas tree, winter branch, or seasonal display without feeling overly decorative.

I am drawn to the restraint in Nordstjerne’s work. The ornaments bring together simplicity, material character, and thoughtful making in objects designed to be brought out and enjoyed again each Christmas.
