Marion Fortat

Marion Fortat is a glass artist working in Denmark, creating handmade objects that explore the qualities of glass through form, transparency, and colour. Her work includes delicate glass snowflakes and sculptural objects, made individually with the subtle variations that come from working by hand.

Light is an important part of the work. Transparent and coloured glass catch their surroundings differently throughout the day, revealing changes in tone, reflection, and detail as the light changes.

I was drawn to Marion’s work for the combination of delicacy and material character. Her glass snowflakes in particular transformed a familiar winter form into something distinctly handmade, with no two pieces exactly alike.
