Kunstindustrien has been making candles in Denmark for generations, creating hand poured candles defined by simple forms and carefully considered proportions.

Each candle is made from stearin, with the wick selected to suit its particular size and shape. This attention to the relationship between material, wick, and form helps create an even flame and consistent burn.

The Kunstindustrien collection at Danish Design Space focuses on white pillar candles in several heights, alongside a Pure White calendar candle numbered from 1 to 24 in simple black monotype. The calendar candle brings the same restrained approach to a familiar Danish Christmas tradition, designed to be lit a little each day through December.

I am drawn to Kunstindustrien for that simplicity: good proportions, beautiful candlelight, and candles made to be lit and used rather than saved for a special occasion.
