Ditte Fischer

Ditte Fischer works with coloured porcelain to create vases, tableware, and objects defined by simple forms, distinctive colour, and tactile surfaces.

Each piece is made in her Copenhagen studio, where the porcelain is cast and carefully finished by hand. Water sanding gives much of her work its characteristic silky matte exterior, often contrasted with a glazed interior. Colour is part of the porcelain itself rather than simply applied to the surface, giving the pieces a depth and material quality that is central to her work.

Across vases, bowls, cups, and smaller objects, the forms and colours are designed to work together. Different pieces can be combined without needing to match, allowing a collection to grow naturally over time.

I am drawn to the balance in Ditte’s work: sculptural yet useful, distinctive without being demanding. The evidence of the making remains visible, while the forms are simple enough to become a natural part of the home.
