Lars Rank

Lars Rank creates porcelain objects that combine clean, architectural forms with a playful approach to shape and detail. Trained at the Jutland Art Academy, he has worked from his Copenhagen studio since 2004.

His pieces are made by hand, with careful attention to proportion, surface, and the character of the porcelain. In his Christmas ornaments, liquid porcelain is drawn by hand to create delicate open forms, while his vases and lighthouse pieces explore simple stacked and geometric shapes.

Across the collection, familiar forms are reduced to simple lines and shapes, from sculptural vases and lighthouses to hearts, stars, angels, and snowflakes. Subtle variations in the handmade process give each piece its own character.

I am drawn to the balance in Lars’s work: precise without feeling rigid, simple without being anonymous, and often with an unexpected detail that gives the piece its personality.
