Slow Design x Scandinavian Minimalism

Danish Design Space is an online boutique dedicated to beautifully simple design for the home - made by hand.

We celebrate craftsmanship and the perfect balance of form and function, because when objects in our home are both beautiful to look at and made to be used we get the most joy from them.

We believe that knowing the story behind a product creates a connection and adds meaning and value, and by choosing meaningful designs made to last, we improve our quality of life and help create a more sustainable world.

We embrace slow-design and work with independent designers and makers who are passionate about what they do, offering you a truly unique collection of authentic Scandinavian design - no travel required.

My name is Pia Asano and I am the founder and curator of Danish Design Space. I grew up in Denmark, but lived in Tokyo, Japan for many years working for a Danish furniture and design company before settling down in Toronto, Canada.

I have always had a love for the creative arts and growing up I spent many hours oil painting and working with clay. I love anything design, but in particular interior design and architecture. I can often be found redecorating our home - much to the frustration of the 3 men in my life. I love spending time in the great outdoors and at home with my husband, two boys, and our little lionhead pet bunny.

While studying interior design I noticed how few Danish designs were available outside Denmark and decided to fulfill a long held dream: to open a boutique showcasing design pieces from smaller independent Danish designers and artisans.

Focusing on timeless designs with simple clean lines, quality materials, and craftsmanship, I have handpicked a collection of authentic Danish designs for the home that I am thrilled to share with you.
